Portfolio : Recording Studio
This Massachusetts recording studio, a renovation of an existing room, was built to the producer's exact specifications. It being his second studio, he knew precisely what he wanted in a new recording space -- right down to the room proportions.
The roof was expanded upward, creating 16-foot cathedral ceilings, and the floor was raised, leaving accessible space underneath to run cables to remote locations and iso-rooms.
The walls were angled to maximize the acoustic properties of the room, and built with exceptional insulation and sound-dampening properties. Special closets were built to house computers and other gear, isolating fan-noise and heat from the main recording area.
Other features include pine tongue and groove on the ceilings, mahogany plywood on the walls, a small loft area, and a separate entrance and bathroom to further separate the studio from the main living space.
